Been seeing a number of patients who come for a second opinion after going for a “cheap $88 Picolaser trial” at a mass market clinic 😅 The common thread was that they took up a cheap trial, were pressured by salesgirls to buy very large laser packages (who needs 30 laser sessions anyway? Whole kampong come and do?), did several sessions without seeing significant results 🤪 here’s our approach to laser treatment (hint: no $88 pico haha)  ✅ Accurate diagnosis: this comes from experience and also using skin imaging technology (we use Lifeviz by Quantificare) ✅ Clear treatment plan and timelines: A personalised treatment plan is designed and patients are given a time frame in which visible results can reasonably be expected. Usually takes 3-6 months for significant improvement. No short cuts ✅ Right tool for the right job: pico is not always the answer, we have other lasers to do the job, depending on the issue I may also recommend using different lasers to target different issues (eg Picosure Laser for pigmentation combine with MOXI laser for acne scars).  ✅ Experience matters! Laser medicine is one of the more difficult to master fields of aesthetic medicine and dermatology- there are not many doctors out there who truly understand lasers. It takes years of experience, trial and error, meeting overseas experts, attending conferences etc to truly understand the lasers you are working with so you can push the limits and get amazing results without encountering complications.  ✅ Lasers matter: PicoSure laser is regarded as the “Ferrari” of picolasers, with over 100 clinical publications supporting its use. It’s the laser of choice for results driven clinics and academic medical Centers (eg National skin Center). Due to the high cost of PicoSure- you won’t be seeing $88 first trials. PicoSure treatment cost ranges from $300-800 per session.

✨Juvelook (素颜针) and Rejuran (婴儿针) skinboosters need no introduction: both are wildly popular injectable skinboosters from Korea that have taken the world by storm. Less than 5 years from being launched, they are now some of the most commonly requested anti-ageing aesthetic treatments in skincare clinics around the world.

🎀Beauty trends in Medical Aesthetics move at light speed, but smooth and glowing skin is timeless. Nicknamed “Korean Glass Skin” or “baby skin”- this refers to skin that is well hydrated, firm and free of blemishes like pigmentation or acne marks.

🧬Rejuran contains 1 key ingredient- Polynucleotides (PN), derived from Salmon DNA.

Rejuran’s Polynucleotides (PN) supply the building blocks for new DNA production and support cell proliferation. 🤔 So which is better? Truth is nobody knows, to date there has been no published studies directly comparing the two. Korean clinics are mixing both juvelook and rejuran for administration together but that is off label and we don’t recommend it. Based on our own observations: juvelook is better for mature skin (stronger collagen boosting effect), while rejuran is better for distressed sensitive skin (stronger anti inflammatory effect). 🙌🏻

The jaw muscle (Masseter) is located along the jawbone (mandible) and in many individuals is enlarged and overactive, giving rise to a squarish or round face. In addition, strong jaw muscles lead to teeth grinding and lockjaw (TMJ dysfunction) which causes wear and tear of the teeth and headache 🤕

Treatment with botulinum toxin helps to relax the jaw muscle and slims the face. All brands of neurotoxin are effective: Allergan Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Nabota. Results take about 2-4 weeks to visible and last for 3-4 months.

The usual approach is to use traditional Q switch or pico Lasers to slowly remove the pigment, which takes 6-9 months and risks Melasma flare up 😅 MOXI Laser is a 1927 nm fractional non ablative laser that targets the water in the superficial skin. MOXI Laser works by encouraging epidermal and dermal exfoliation of pigment (ie- rapid skin turnover with new skin production, shedding pigment in the old skin) and stabilising the basement membrane at dermal-epidermal junction (“leaky” basement membrane allows for pigment to transfer from melanocytes in the dermis to skin cells in the epidermis). Apart from treating Melasma, MOXI Laser is effective for the treatment of sun damage, fine lines, pores and acne scars  ✨1927 nm wavelength treats all skin types (including darker skin)✨  MOXI Laser’s 1927 nm wavelength targets water in the skin (instead of pigment), making it effectively “colour blind”, which allows it to be used on all skin types, including darker skin types that are more prone to melasma flares and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. MOXI Laser can also be used after recent sun exposure, which is uncommon for other laser treatments that cannot be undergone right after a sun tan.   🔥Lower risk of melasma flare-ups🔥  The penetration depth of the MOXI Laser, at 100-200 microns, targets the epidermis layer, which is just above the Dermal-Epidermal junction (DEJ) where the melanocytes are. This results in a lower risk of melasma flare-ups after the MOXI Laser treatment 🧐Conclusion 🧐 Is MOXI laser a silver bullet for Melasma? It still takes 3-4 treatments to see significant improvement, with strict sun avoidance and medical therapy required to achieve Melasma remission.
